Tibial Chondrosarcoma

chondrosarc_initial_xray2

This knee xray is of a 64 year old man who had a 6-month history of pain in his leg. He had increased pain when he put weight on his leg and did acknowledge that the pain was worse at night. He was referred for evaluation and management.

On examination he had discomfort with palpation of the area just below his knee, and mild swelling in this area as well. He didn't have any recent injury to the area.  He didn't have any other medical problems that he was aware of.

Because of the abnormal appearance of his xray there was a suspicion of a cancerous or an infection process.  He was sent for an MRI and blood tests.
