Periacetabular Osteotomy

Pertiactabular Osteotomy (PAO) is a surgical treatment for hip dysplasia that preserves the hip joint, alleviates the patient’s pain and restores function to the patient’s own hip. This procedure involves separating the hip socket from the pelvis and rotating it over the femoral head. This allows free rotation of the joint and relieves excess pressure on the hip. Our doctors use various imaging modalities to help diagnose and treat hip dysplasia such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and radiography.
