Femoral Osteotomy

For those who are afflicted with chronic hip disease, a femoral osteotomy is an effective surgical option and is a good alternative to hip replacement surgery. This procedure is done by cutting into the femur (thigh bone) and repositioning it to improve leg mechanics. A femoral osteotomy can result in considerable reduction of pain, increased mobility and may also promote cartilage repair. It is often done is patients that are younger and fairly active.
