Bracing for Hip Conditions

Developmental hip dysplasia is a common disorder that is exhibited at the time of birth or presents itself during childhood. This condition means that the hip joint is not perfectly developed.

For patients younger than five years of age, bracing provides nonoperative management of these hip conditions. There are various types of braces available depending on the age, development, and hip condition of the patient. Examples of braces include the Pavlik harness, the Swash brace, the Frejka Pillow Splint, and Friedman Strap which correctly align the hip joint to provide stability.
