Alan Y. Synn, MD, RVT, FACS

thumb_synn.jpgDr. Synn is one of the founding members of the Vascular Institute of the Rockies. His clinical interests span the full breadth of vascular surgery. He maintains a special emphasis in complex arterial surgery and endovascular therapies, particularly the endograft treatment of aortic aneurysms. In addition to caring for his patients, he is a scientific investigator in modern therapies that help the patient with vascular disease.

Dr. Synn is a graduate of Stanford University and U.C.L.A. School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Washington in Seattle and a fellowship in vascular surgery at the University of Iowa. He then joined the faculty in vascular surgery at the University of Iowa School of Medicine. In addition to training vascular surgeons of the future, he has developed scientific pursuits. His work has been published in the areas of complex leg artery bypass surgeries, the noninvasive vascular lab, arteriography, cerebrovascular arterial reconstructions, and thrombolysis. He spent two years in private practice in Phoenix, Arizona prior to coming to Denver in 1995. Dr. Synn is known for his dedication to his patients and the medical community. A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and member of the Society for Vascular Surgery, he is also active in the Denver Medical Society and Rocky Mountain Vascular Surgical Society. He participates on numerous hospital committees and is particularly proud of his work in developing an endovascular center of excellence.
